BR-90 Modification and Display Rotation Study. Volume II - Study of BR-90 Display Rotation for Photo Analyst Support.

Abstract

This report presents results of an investigation of image transformation techniques that may be feasible for incorporation with the BR-90 display console. Rotational, scaling, and translational transformations are all generally required to bring prior dynamic display images into registration with new optically projected, static display images on the BR-90 console. Such adjustment, differentially applied, is regarded as the basic manipulation of value to the photo interpreter. Digital and analog techniques both are considered to transform the dynamic display on the cathode-ray tube. For the digital methods, the on-line use of an external computer is preferred because of its greater power and economy. The internal display processor could be used, but it is limited by memory size and word length. The purely analog and the hybrid methods considered are both feasible, but require expensive modifications. Rotation of the static display by mechanical and optical methods is discussed; only mechanical rotation of the slides is feasible as a modification to the present slide projector design. (Author)
