The Influence of Lubrication on High-Pressure Sealing Materials.

Abstract

The use of engine oil to lubricate high-pressure sealing materials, to increase the plasticity of these materials, or to facilitate the removal of a seal after disassembling flange joints substantially injures the seal and weakens its pressure resistance. The advantages of using a silicon lubricant for high pressure seals are demonstrated. (Author)
