Magnetic Systems Employing Steels for Magnetohydrodynamic Generators.

Abstract

Several designs of magnetic systems which may be used for magnetohydrodynamic generators are discussed: annular, rectilinear, and rectilinear-annular magnetic systems, as well as a magnetic system having a loop-shaped channel. From the standpoint of the weight of steel, the most practical type is the system where the whole window of the magnetic circuit is filled up in the basic plane (including the space located along the length of the air gap). Particular attention is given to discussing the parameters pertinent to the design. (Author)
