Long-Period Triaxial Seismograph Development

Abstract

The spectra and coherence of the noise as recored by the triaxial and long-period seismographs at UBSO were computed. Plots of the amplitude ratio (or spectra ratio) and coherency of the noise are presented. Comparison of the amplitude ratio plots, from the recordings for wind free and windy days, indicates that the wind induced noise is attenuated, but not completely eliminated with the burial of a seismometer. Assembly of the redesigned module is complete. The module has been tested and found to operate according to the design intent. The drawing package required to fabricate the production prototype seismometer is expected to be released during mid-October. Assembly of the seismometer is expected to begin during the month of December.
