Tryptophan-To-Nicotinic-Acid Metabolism in Children with Febrile Convulsions
Abstract
In a group of 10 subjects with febrile convulsions, urinary elimination of kynurenines (kynurenine, acetyl-kynurenine, and trioxykynurenine) , both spontaneous and after ingestion of 1-tryptophan (5g per 1.73 sq, meters of body surface), was found to be greater than that measured in normal subjects, even allowing for pronounced behavioral variations among subjects.
