Development of Hybrid Computer Programs for AAFSS/COBRA/COIN Weapons Effectiveness Studies. Volume 4. Monte Carlo Simulation of a Tactical Engagement Between Air and Ground Forces.

Abstract

Special purpose FORTRAN programs are described; these programs are used to obtain estimates of the outcome of tactical engagements between a single ground weapon and an escorted formation of helicopters. Output information includes damage probabilities, expected aircraft attritions, expected escort damage, and expected ground force attritions. State variables, stored on magnetic tape as a discrete function of time, are assumed to be available as input as well as descriptions of air to ground lethality. Expected results are obtained using a Monte Carlo replication, and output data are stored on magnetic tape for further analysis and evaluation of the escort aircraft and weapon system. (Author)
