Short-Time Elevated Temperature Mechanical Behavior of 2014-T6 Aluminum under Tension-Tension Biaxial Stress,

Abstract

The report describes test apparatus, test procedures, and test results obtained in a laboratory program undertaken to determine the mechanical behavior of 2014-T6 aluminum under tension-tension biaxial stress at elevated temperatures after rapid heating to the test temperature. The experimental results are presented graphically in various ways to compare the various methods of presenting biaxial stress data. The influence of temperature, strain rate, and prior metallurgical processing of the test material on the test results and methods of presenting the test results are discussed. (Author)
