Back-to-Back Error-Rate Tests of Multichannel Teletype System: Interim Report.

Abstract

An NELC program supplements on-the-air tests with laboratory back-to-back tests using transmitters, receivers, and modems to determine error rate as a function of equipment configuration and equipment operating levels. This report presents the tentative results of several months of laboratory testing. (Item: over an 80-dB range of input voltage, the receiver did not contribute significantly to error rate.) It recommends that existing equipments be modified to demonstrate improvement potential, and that modifications be verified by further laboratory and on-the-air tests. (Author)
