The Interaction of Braking and Side Forces in the Contact Area of an Airplane Tire Rolling Under Load.

Abstract

An exploratory study of the interaction of braking and side forces in the tire contact area revealed a fixed relationship between the yaw angle and these forces. A well defined boundary for the combined braking and side forces separates this condition of yawed rolling from that of sliding. (Author)
