Experimental Study of the Short-Range Field of a Dielectric Antenna,

Abstract

The article contains an effort to explain the radiation mechanism of a dielectric rod antenna through a phase and amplitude analysis of field strength in the immediate vicinity of the antenna using a reflection probe (scatterer). Measurements were conducted at wavelength sub 0 = 3.20 cm, with polystyrene and piacryl (plexiglass) used as the dielectric material (dielectric constant approximately epsilon = 2.5 for both materials).
