Evaluation of Aerial Survey Images with Modified Image Width in Standard Two-Image Map Plotting Instruments,

Abstract

The author discloses proposals for the compensation of image extension during affine evaluation, according to the 'amorphous perspective bundle theory' as defined in a 1963 patent application. The essential characteristics of possibilities discovered at that time are in conformity with O. Hofmann's proposal published on this subject. It is shown that if the picture inclinations which occur in practice are taken into consideration, the use of the double cardans described by Hofmann can be dispensed with. However, experiments led to the conclusion that the affine evaluation technique with standard two-image map plotting instruments adapted in this manner is advisable in exceptional cases only.
