On a New Differential Rectification Method,

Abstract

After surveying the history of possibilities available to date for the rectification of hilly terrain with technical processes and with instruments, differential rectifier instruments with perspective bundles true to form, developed in America and in the Soviet Union are discussed. The explanation of a new proposal concerning the use of a conventional rectification instrument with built-in automatic enlargement control for rectification follows. Such an instrument offers the following advantages: it can be coupled with various stereo evaluation instruments for the evaluation of aerial photographs, using any focal length during exposure; whenever necessary, it can also be used as a conventional rectification instrument. The theoretical basis for the determination of control values are indicated, and the control of differential rectification with a stereo evaluation instrument is discussed. In conclusion, the accuracy of differential rectification is investigated in principle. (Author)
