Low-Noise Receivers which Utilize Image Frequency Energy,

Abstract

Low-noise receivers which utilized image frequency energy were designed and constructed. Single side-band noise figure at 5 gigahertz was 6.4 decibels including a 1.5-decibel intermediate frequency amplifier noise figure. Phase of the image frequency could be varied in the receivers to maintain a low-noise figure when the received frequency was changed. Silicon Schottky barrier diodes were used in the mixer circuits. The microwave portions of the receivers were built in strip line. (Author)
