A Study of Operating Systems for Data Management.

Abstract

Three computer operating systems were studied to determine if all or any are suitable as monitors for handling on-line data management systems on the General Electric 635 computer. The operating systems studied were: GECOS III - A system under development by G.E.; Darmouth Phase II - A system under development at Darmouth College; and ADEPT - A system under development by Systems Development Corporation. Each System was examined for conformance to services required by on-line communication, program chaining, file management, central communication areas. (Author)
