Medium Precision Electronic Ignition Delay Element (Delay Squib),
Abstract
The development of an electronic ignition delay element was undertaken in order to improve the timing accuracy of sustainer motor ignition in small boost-coast-boost type of propulsion systems. The desired tolerance was determined to be plus or minus 5 percent of a nominal value of from 50 to 250 milliseconds in the military environment. An electronic delay circuit powered by a miniature battery was selected to meet this requirement. (Author)
