Some New Proposals Concerning Mechanical Projection Computers for Photogrammetric Two-Image Map Plotting Instruments,

Abstract

Starting from the present stage of development of photogrammetric instrument construction, and from noteworthy development trends, three recently publicised designs for two-image map plotting instruments are discussed. They are characterized by new types of projection systems, based on a purely mechanical projection system involving the splitting of the spatial stereoscopic beam direction into two projection planes. In the PG-2 of the firm Kern, Aaray, a horizontal positioned measuring image is obtained, while the applicability of the instrument remains unchanged, as compared to conventional instruments. M. Maner's design includes a horizontal measuring image system, and expands the scope of evaluation to measuring images with an image angle of 155g. A proposal submitted by the author involves a projection system which uses the known affine technology, without limitations concerning the angle of the recording instrument. This system requires no additional direct orientation and setting elements.
