Iron Containing Contaminants in N2O4

Abstract

The contaminants found in N2O4 causing flow blockage at the launch site have been analyzed and identified as nitrosyl tetranitratoferrate. An authentic sample of this material was synthesized in the laboratory for comparison purposes. The corrosive action of the oxidizer on the iron containing materials of constructions results in the formation of this contaminant.
