A Study of the Utilization and Distribution of Engineers.

Abstract

This paper develops basic information on present conditions regarding the distribution and utilization of engineering manpower needed by planners of industry and government. Several characteristics of the engineering population such as discipline, education level, and age are analyzed to portray the distribution of engineers. A detailed analysis of two aspects of utilization is presented. The first aspect is a comparison of the engineer's job assignment with his educational background. The second presentation is an analysis of individual engineer's responses to a questionnaire concerning their utilization. Significant conclusions are reported and recommendations to alleviate problem areas are noted. (Author)
