Satellite Narrow Beam Antenna Coverage From Equatorial Orbits,

Abstract

The development of limited ground coverage through the use of narrow beam satellite antennas is limited by the satellite elevation angle. For long-haul point-to-point communications, a circular narrow beam produces an elliptical ground coverage which is elongated by a factor of at least two to three in the apparent direction of the satellite.
