The Design of A Ship's Control Space for Polar Icebreakers,

Abstract

This paper presents the design of the ship control space for medium size polar icebreaker presently scheduled for construction award in the early 1970's. The ship control space (in past designs designated as pilothouse) is where navigation surveillance and communication data is analyzed and acted upon to provide control of the speed and direction of the vessel.
