COF2 Band Intensities in the 2.0-6.0 Micron Region.

Abstract

Absolute intensities of four dominant emission bands of COF2 at 2.67, 3.55, 4.48 and 5.35 microns have been measured with a high speed scanning spectrometer, using reflected-shock-heated samples of COF2 in excess argon. Spectra were obtained with COF2 over the temperature range from 1300K to 2400K at total pressures between 3 and 10 atm. Peak intensities at the three lowest wavelengths were observed to be less than 0.05 blackbody intensity and that at 5.35 microns was below 0.2 blackbody. Integrated band intensities of room temperature and shock temperature spectra are compared with the theoretical temperature dependence expected for these vibrational bands. (Author)
