An Anchor Release System.

Abstract

A system for releasing (sub-surface) moored buoys from their anchor is described. It consists of two completely independent sub-systems that work in parallel, in case one fails. One is actuated by an acoustic command from the surface ship and the other by a pre-set timer. The acoustic release system uses a signal consisting of a 3.5 kHz carrier frequency pulse-modulated with a low frequency (100-200 Hz). This system has been used in the field on many occasions and has proved to be reliable. (Author)
