Surface Displacement of an Elastic Half-Space.

Abstract

A method for computing the vertical surface displacement of an elastic half-space (Poisson Ratio = 0.25) due to a normal axisymmetric wave propagating over the surface is described. The method involves superposition of 'fundamental' solutions of the equations of motion obtained by an application of integral transforms. A computer code incorporating the method is described and the solutions of two test problems are compared with those obtained from the SLAM code. (Author)
