Measuring Aircraft Maintenance Effectiveness within the United States Air Force.

Abstract

Maintenance effectiveness (ME) is defined in terms of the ability to meet mission requirements. The most important measures of ME are identified at each level of command. Using an index technique to measure changes from a standard, a Maintenance Effectiveness Index (MEDEX) is created to improve the utility of the information presented to the manager. The flexibility of MEDEX and the options available to the manager are explained. (Author)
