Mechanical Characteristics of Fluid-Ejecting Models.

Abstract

Models that eject compressible fluid into the wake during a hypervelocity flight were developed. The squirt mechanism allows various amounts of gas to be ejected as well as different modes of ejection. Both conical and spherical shaped models were used. A short interior ballistics analysis of the model in a hypervelocity gun is given. The valve dynamics, stress computation and flight stability considerations are included. (Author)
