The Communication Facilities of the New NATO Headquarters

Abstract

The new NATO headquarters in Paris is described - particularly its extensive telephone network, with its exchange lines, extensions and secondary switchboards for lateral conversations. The building has a separate press switchboard, radio and television studios which are connected with the French telephone network by a manned switchboard with 16 exchange lines. There are 16 interpreters' booths in which the speeches are simultaneously translated into two languages--English and French--for the benefit of the participants.
