A 350 Degrees Panoramic Camera for Underwater Use.

Abstract

The report concerns the development of an entirely new concept in underwater photography; a camera capable of taking high resolution and dimensionally precise photographic reproductions of horizontal panoramic views. This camera records almost the entire horizon on one photograph, giving a true perspective as to what was really observed. It has a field of view that includes 20 degrees vertical and 350 degrees around the horizon. For wide angle photography, this camera has none of the distortion characteristics of the conventional wide angle lenses. (Author)
