A Rationale for Moving-Base Flight Simulation and a Preliminary Statement of the Motion Requirements,

Abstract

A rationale supporting the need for moving-base flight simulation in system research and development is presented. This information is based on an extensive survey and analysis of the pertinent experimental literature. The study concludes that moving-base simulation is required and that at least four degrees of freedom - pitch, roll, vertical translation, and lateral translation - be provided. The document also presents preliminary motion specifications for the four axes indicated. (Author)
