Electrode Migration and Reaction Processes Occurring Within Alkaline-Zinc Batteries.

Abstract

Zinc electrodes have been subjected to constant anodic potential polarization for different time periods in various KOH solutions. The voltage level was varied and the work was carried out at 25 and -3C. The voltage decay was followed immediately after polarizing current was removed. Above 325 mv a voltage arrest was observed in this voltage decay curve. This arrest may be due to a mixed potential tegether with a passivating film on the zinc electrode. (Author)
