Cryoelectric Circuits for Asp.

Abstract

The report examines cryoelectric device, array, and assembled system considerations in the context of a postulated one million cell (one billion gate) Association Storing Processor (ASP) application (concept developed by Savitt, Love, and Troop). Cryotron and STD (Superconducting Tunneling Device based on the dc Josephson effect) devices are compared. Arguments based on practical array complexity, interconnection, and the necessary fault tolerant provisions are cited. Prerequisites to subsequent development of high complexity cryoelectric systems are apparent. (Author)
