An Analysis of Airblast Loading of Structures.

Abstract

Part 1 deals with relationships between shock diffraction and the quasi-steady shock loading of structures. Part 2 of this report deals with shock pressure-time measurements on a conical structure and shows how these measurements are used to calculate a quasi-steady drag coefficient which is practically identical to the drag coefficient of the structure measured in the wind tunnel. If these coefficients of drag are nearly identical for all structures at the same flow Mach numbers, wind tunnel tests of structures can be used to determine quasi-steady loading by shock waves.
