Advanced Safing and Arming Device.
Abstract
Effort involved the synthesis, design and development of an advanced distance-sensing Safing and Arming Device for use with general-purpose bomb fuzes. The device measures the drag forces on the bomb and determines safe-separation distance. Special processing circuitry compensates for gravitational error and provides the desired separation distance as a function of release conditions and bomb characteristics. A functional breadboard of the evolved system was designed, fabricated and laboratory tested. (Author)
