Circular-Array Radar Antenna.

Abstract

An analysis of the performance of the CARAMBA I (parallel-plate lens feed) and CARAMBA II (vector-transfer feed) systems. In the experimental program, a circular-array antenna consisting of 128 radiating elements, equispaced on a radius of 13.2 wavelengths, was designed and tested for operation over a 600-MHz bandwidth in S-band. CARAMBA I and II feed systems were designed, constructed, and evaluated. Array components were tested, in a high-power test facility constructed for the task, for average-power-handling capability and peak-power breakdown. Experimental results compare favorably with predictions. (Author)
