Report of the 1968 Moscow Semiconductor Conference and of Visits to Scientific Institutes in Leningrad,

Abstract

The author attended the 9th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors which was held in Moscow, U.S.S.R. from the 23rd to the 29th of July 1968. This report describes the program which was presented, contacts with other attendees, and a post-conference tour of the Physico-Technical Institute and the Semiconductor Institute in Leningrad. Because this was the first international semiconductor conference held in the Soviet Union, and because a conference attendee in that country encounters many unusual situations, detailed observations and comments about a number of auxiliary matters are also included in this report.
