High Efficiency Octave Bandwidth Traveling-Wave Tube.

Abstract

A design evaluation of large bandwidth traveling-wave tubes with high efficiency was carried out, using a large signal computer program. The tubes incorporate velocity resynchronization methods (voltage jump and velocity tapers) for efficiency enhancement and dispersion shaping (anisotropic shield loading) to increase the bandwidth. These are being built to evaluate these schemes experimentally. Cold test data have been obtained with anisotropic shield loading using dielectric support materials corresponding to Beryllia.
