Hardening Technology Studies - III. STRIDE Code Solutions and Extension to Multi-Material Systems.

Abstract

This report describes further steps in the development of the STRIDE Code Shock TRI - Dimensional Eulerian). Stride is a comprehensive three-dimensional numerical technique for analysis of impulsive loading problems. It is based upon a hydrodynamic-elastic-plastic distortional model. In this report, modification of the basic Eulerian code to permit treatment of multi-material cases is described, and the special data storage and handling techniques required to allow solution of large three-dimensional problems are outlined. Sample solutions of impact problems are given, and these are compared with theoretical solutions and with experimental observations. (Author)
