Integrated Engineering and Service Test (Desert) of Filter/Separator, Optimum Lightweight, 600 GPM.

Abstract

The purpose of the test was to determine to the fullest extent possible if the test item met the requirements of the Small Development Requirement, to confirm the safety characteristics of the filter/separator, and to determine the adequacy of the Draft Technical Manual for employment of the filter/separator in the desert environment. Only two shortcomings in human engineering were noted during the test. It was concluded that the 600 gpm filter/separator met the requirements of the SDR and is suitable for U.S. Army use under desert environmental conditions. The filter/separator is safe when operated in a desert environment in accordance with the precautions stated in the Draft Technical Manual and suggested addition to it; the manual is adequate for use in the operating and maintaining of the test item.
