Initial Production Test of Crane-Shovel, Crawler Mounted: DED, 12-1/2 Ton, Model L-36M, USA Reg. No. 08C81367.

Abstract

An initial production test was conducted on a crane-shovel, crawler-mounted, DED, 12-1/2 ton, model L-36M, USA No. 08C81367. Testing consisted of backhoe, shovel, and various crane tests. The purpose was to determine the degree to which the crane-shovel satisfied the requirements. The crane-shovel did not satisfy the requirements of the following: swing test; radio-frequency suppression test; backhoe test; and the shovel-front attachment test. In addition, basic requirements concerning the tachometer, trouble light, engine, and primary and secondary drums were not satisfied. Based on the failures to meet the requirements described, it is concluded that the crane-shovel, its shovel attachment, and its backhoe attachment are not suitable for issue.
