Modified IITRI Soil Strain Gage Instrumentation.

Abstract

A soil strain gage instrumentation system has been modified to enhance its suitability for field usage. The principal modification allows the instrumentation system to function without a set of standard gage coils at the control unit location. Laboratory tests indicate that the performance of the modified instrumentation system has not been degraded by the modifications and that the functional flexibility for both laboratory and field operations has been improved.
