Description of Computer Programs for Predicting Design Parameters of Single Moored Buoy Systems at Equilibrium,

Abstract

Two computer programs are presented for calculating the minimum buoyancy and cable length requirements for single moored buoy systems. These programs approximate the cable curvature for particular mooring depths, current conditions and cables. The approximations are based on segmenting the cable into either a series of straight lines or a series of circular arcs. Both programs are sufficiently flexible that they may be used for similar calculations on surface towing of underwater objects. (Author)
