Bow Shock Wave Characteristics; Shock Wave Patterns of Rigid Ribbon Parachute Models with and Without Suspension Lines at Mach 3.0.

Abstract

Rigid ribbon parachute models with aerodynamic porosities from 82.2% to 128.0% were tested at Mach 3 in freestream and wake flow, both with and without suspension lines, in order to examine the relationship between canopy porosity and shock wave-suspension line interactions. Shadowgraph pictures were obtained for configurations with various aerodynamic porosities. (Author)
