Brushless DC Starter-Generator.
Abstract
Work continued on an alternate rectifier assembly to provide back-up units for the assemblies now in use. The redesigned rotary transformer rotor was fabricated and mechanically and electrically tested. Investigation on ceramic cores for the rotary transformer was concluded. The development of the static commutator by RCA is continuing. Three positive and three negative switches were delivered and acceptance tested. A test program was outlined to assure proper operation of the switches with the machine. Tests with the discrete component commutator and the machine were completed and provided initial performance data on the system. The auxiliary power supplies were fabricated and electrically evaluated to assure compatibility with the commutator. (Author)
