Pade Estimates of the Critical Temperature for the Europium Chalcogenide EuS,

Abstract

A high temperature expansion for the magnetic susceptibility has been derived using the self-consistent cluster-variation method and assuming the Heisenberg model. In this calculation two-spin correlation is included as well as exchange out to second neighbors. Pade approximants to the Curie temperature are obtained explicitly for EuS from this expansion. The results are shown to be considerably better than the values predicted by molecular field theory and very close to those of the precise high temperature expansion technique. (Author)
