Influence of Some Test Specimen Geometrical Parameters on the Mechanical Behavior of 6061-T6 Aluminum Under Tension-Tension Biaxial Stress,

Abstract

A laboratory test program was conducted on the influence of some test specimen geometrical parameters on the mechanical behavior of cold-drawn 6061-T6 aluminum under tension-tension biaxial stress. Specifically, the effect of the length-to-diameter ratio and wall thickness of thin-walled tubular test specimens subjected to various combinations of tension-tension biaxial stress were investigated. The experimental results are presented as engineering biaxial stress-strain curves and biaxial yield stress and biaxial ultimate stress envelopes. The results of this investigation indicate that these parameters have a small but apparently significant influence on the mechanical behavior of this material. (Author)
