Development of a Modular 100-Watt Flame Heated Thermionic Diode.
Abstract
The report summarizes work performed to design, fabricate and test 100-watt flame heated thermionic diode modules and to evaluate the test results on a performance index (P.I.). The criterion to evaluate the thermionic diode module performance is a weighted compilation of the following parameter values (goal for P.I. = 1); operating life (500 hours), output power (104 watts), output voltage (0.5 volts), efficiency (8%), emitter temperature (1375C), weight (0.97 pound). The method for compiling the performance index, and the performance index for the second six-month period, including test results, are presented. (Author)
