Mass-Spectrometric Studies of Graphite Vaporization at High Temperatures.

Abstract

Cold-probe, hot-gas interaction studies using free-jets of better defined properties, lend hope that adiabatic sampling can be achieved. The first series of carbon experiments to be performed are described. Also described is a highly speculative approach to determining carbon-cluster bond energies. The status of construction, procurement and design of major equipment is reviewed. (Author)
