A-Atlas-153: Subsonic Tests of a Static Pressure Probe Mounted on a 40 Degree Cone,

Abstract

Wind tunnel tests were conducted at subsonic speeds, up to Mach 0.3, to determine with what accuracy free stream pressure could be measured with a probe mounted on a cone having a 40 deg semi-vertex angle. These tests were run to implement an investigation of a static pressure sensing device for warhead fuzing. The probe remained parallel to the cone centerline at all times, but its perpendicular distance from the centerline was varied. Probe length was also varied along with cone angles of attack and roll, and tunnel dynamic pressure. (Author)
