Half Millimeter 'Backward Wave Oscillator'.
Abstract
The report summarizes theoretical and experimental studies leading to construction of carcinotrons capable of delivering 0,5 watts CW power at 0,5 mm wavelength. The first part of the report concerns theoretical studies of the gun and of the beam focusing as well as studies of the slow-wave structure by means of a large scale model. The second and third parts are devoted to technological studies concerning the gun (5 versions were examined), the line and particularly the input, the collector and the tube envelope. Test equipment is described in the last part of the report. (Author)
