An Investigation of Fatigue Behavior of Reinforced Plastics for Primary Aircraft Structures.

Abstract

Three aspects of the fatigue of reinforced plastic composite materials were examined in detail. Included were: a study of cumulative fatigue damage mechanisms and analysis for several composite materials; a study of the effect of a complex cyclic high temperature and high humidity on fatigue life; and determination of the influence of fiber orientation and matrix on the fatigue life of composites.
