An Infrared Systems Analysis Program for the IBM 7094 Computer,

Abstract

A computer program is presented which calculates the effective irradiance received by a remote optical sensor from an arbitrary radiating source. The analysis includes the effects of atmospheric absorption, receiver relative response, and source distance. The spectral region considered is 2.675 to 5.975 microns or any segment thereof. The program utilizes an atmospheric transmission model accounting for water vapor, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide, and is written in FORTRAN IV language for the IBM 7094 computer. The output data are presented in both tabular form and as a plot for each run. The plot is performed by the program and requires no auxiliary programs or equipment. Two auxiliary programs are also presented, one of which computes blackbody radiation for various temperatures and area-emissivity products, using the IBM 1620 computer. These radiation values are punched out in a form suitable for input to the systems analysis program as a target signature. The other auxiliary program uses the 7094 computer to load the atmospheric transmission data on tape for use by the systems analysis program as a standard portion of its input. (Author)
